3 Ways To Increase Productivity During The Slow Summer Months

It's summer. An hour goes by. Then another. Finally, you get a customer through the door and get to work. But, what about your other employees? What are they doing? We know things can be slow in the summer and, as part of our Summer Slump series, we want to give you a few tips on how to get the most out of your employees (the high score on Angry Birds doesn't count!) with social media.

1. Get back on social media!
Remember that Facebook page you made in 2011 but haven't posted on since? Well, there are 20 likes, a few check-ins, and reviews being posted. Get your receptionist off phone duty for an hour or two and get him or her to update the page! Start with a cover photo, profile photo, a little blurb about your business, and get posting! Your customers are waiting to be engaged.

2. A picture is worth a thousand words
Now before you write a novel about the time President Barack Obama walked into your jewelry store to purchase a ring for the FLOTUS, consider taking a picture! A picture is worth a thousand words (maybe more for the president), and this adage holds true even more so on social media. On Facebook, photos get 53% more likes than text-based posts. Just look at the selfie above that our team took during our #LikeableRetreat last week!

3. Surprise and delight!
A strategy taken from our CEO Dave Kerpen's book,  Likeable Social Media, people love being surprised and delighted! Instead of offering a coupon to draw in one-time customers, why not surprise and delight a current customer of yours? Here's an idea: Post a picture of your favorite customer getting a free product on Facebook! Not only will your customer be elated, but his or her friends will see them getting rewarded for their loyalty and see that you are a business that cares about its customers and NOT just its profits.
